What is Two Factor Authentication?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) or Two two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security mechanism that requires users to provide two or more forms of verification before gaining access to an account, system, or application. It adds an extra layer of security beyond just a username and password.
The main difference between 2FA and MFA is that 2FA requires you to use one authentication method in addition to your username and password, whereas MFA requires one or more additional authentication methods to your username and password.
At Talmundo we currently only provide 2FA.
Enabling 2FA on your application provides several benefits:
- Enhanced security: 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, as it requires multiple forms of verification.
- Protection against password theft: Even if a password is compromised, unauthorized access is prevented unless the attacker also possesses additional authentication factors.
- Compliance with regulations: Many regulatory standards and frameworks require the use of 2FA to protect sensitive data and systems.
- User confidence: Users feel more secure knowing that their accounts are protected by an extra layer of security, which can improve trust and satisfaction.
- Reduced risk of data breaches: 2FA makes it harder for attackers to gain access to accounts, reducing the likelihood of data breaches and associated costs.
What type of users can activate this feature?
Two Factor Authentication can be enabled for:
- All users: Admin Users and Key Contacts (Task Assignee) and Onboardees Assignee page
- Only Users, Admins, and Key contacts, excluding Onboardees
